See His Face

5-Day Devotional: Seeing Jesus Clearly
Day 1: Invitation to Dwell
Reading: Luke 24:28-32
Devotional: Jesus walks with us uninvited, yet He waits for our invitation to dwell within us. The Emmaus travelers urged Jesus to stay—not recognizing Him, but sensing something profound in His presence. How often do we experience God's nearness without fully recognizing Him? Their hearts burned as He opened the Scriptures, revealing truth they couldn't yet see. Today, consider where you've felt that holy burning—moments when truth resonated deep within, even before full understanding came. Jesus doesn't force His way into our lives; He waits at the door. Will you invite Him not just to walk alongside, but to dwell within? Open your heart's door today and ask Him to make His home with you.

Day 2: Eyes Opened by Faith
Reading: Mark 8:22-26
Devotional: The blind man's two-stage healing reveals something profound about spiritual sight. At first, he saw "men like trees walking"—partial vision, unclear understanding. Jesus touched him again, and everything became clear. This mirrors our spiritual journey. We don't always see Jesus clearly at first. Like the disciples who declared Him Messiah yet rejected His suffering, we grasp pieces of truth while missing the fuller picture. God is patient with our partial sight. He continues working, touching our eyes again and again until we see clearly. Where is your vision still blurred? What truths about Jesus do you see "like trees walking"? Ask Him for the second touch—for clarity that transforms partial understanding into complete vision. True sight comes through persistent faith.

Day 3: Faith That Sees Immediately
Reading: Mark 10:46-52
Devotional: Bartimaeus heard that Jesus was passing by and refused to be silenced. Despite the crowd's rebukes, he shouted louder: "Son of David, have mercy on me!" When Jesus called him, he threw aside his cloak—his beggar's identity—and came. Notice Jesus' question: "What do you want me to do for you?" Bartimaeus wanted to see, and immediately his faith healed him. No second touch needed. He saw clearly and followed Jesus along the road. This is the sight Jesus desires for us—simple, immediate faith that doesn't demand complete understanding before following. You don't need all the answers, all the theological degrees, or perfect doctrine. You need faith that cries out, receives sight, and immediately follows. What are you clinging to that needs to be cast aside? What keeps you from following immediately?

Day 4: Progressive Revelation
Reading: John 9:1-41
Devotional: The man born blind experienced progressive spiritual sight. First, Jesus was "the man" who healed him. Then, "a prophet." Next, one "from God." Finally, when seeing Jesus face to face, he declared, "Lord, I believe," and worshiped Him. His physical healing was instantaneous, but his spiritual understanding deepened through testimony and persecution. Each challenge forced him to articulate who Jesus was, deepening his conviction. Meanwhile, the Pharisees who claimed to see remained spiritually blind. Their presumed knowledge became their stumbling block. True sight requires humility—acknowledging we don't see everything clearly. Where are you in your journey of seeing Jesus? Is He merely a good teacher, a prophet, or your Lord? Let your testimony deepen your sight. Share what you've seen, and watch your understanding grow.

Day 5: We Shall Behold Him
Reading: 1 John 3:1-3; Revelation 22:1-5
Devotional: "We shall behold Him, face to face." This isn't just future hope; it's present calling. John writes that when Christ appears, "we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is." Seeing Jesus transforms us. The question isn't merely whether we'll see Him someday in glory, but whether we're seeing Him now—in Scripture, in suffering, in the ordinary moments of life. Can you see Him walking beside you in your confusion? Do you recognize His voice opening the Scriptures? The disciples' hearts burned before their eyes were opened. Your heart knows before your mind comprehends. Listen to that burning. Pursue that presence. One day the sky will unfold and we'll see Him in fullness, but today—right now—He's inviting you to see Him by faith. Open your spiritual eyes. He's already here.

Reflection Questions for the Week:
  • When have you felt your "heart burning" as God's truth was revealed to you?
  • What keeps you from inviting Jesus to fully dwell in your life?
  • Where is your spiritual vision still partial or unclear?
  • What must you "throw aside" to follow Jesus more completely?
  • How has your understanding of who Jesus is deepened over time?
