Carmichael SDA Church Bulletin

Mar 8, 2025    Pastor Marvin Wray

In my last message I reminded you of the uniqueness of you. "There is no one alive who is youer than you!" But, this week I want to remind you that actually it's not about you. God indeed has a unique work or ministry for you to do, but that work is for His glory...or I should say, it's for the fulfilling of His purpose. We are His elect. We are given the awesome privilege of working not so much "for" Him, but rather, "with" Him. Can there be any higher calling than that? We have so many stories, both Biblical and historical, that demonstrate how God has used ordinary people to do extraordinary works for His glory and for the furthering of His kingdom. I have been so privileged to have spent the last 50+ years in pastoral ministry, but I also realize that you also have a calling to serve in a unique part of His work. What I...what we...always need to keep in mind is that it's not about us. Like Esther, we need to remember that God's work will be accomplished fully, in His time, but consider the possibility that you are where you are for such a time as this. Be fully you, but be that fully for Him.

Yet, God offers us a different path. Through Abraham’s calling (Genesis 12) and the powerful moment of Pentecost (Acts 2), we see God’s heart for unity, purpose, and blessing—not just for ourselves, but for others.

Here’s the good news: God isn’t calling us to build towers of self-worth or chase fleeting fame. He’s inviting us to be part of something bigger—a mission that brings hope, healing, and love to a world in need.

This Sabbath, we’ll explore how to shift our focus from self-promotion to kingdom impact—from making a name to making a real difference.

See you this Sabbath as we worship, reflect, and refocus together.

Let’s make a difference!
