Carmichael SDA Church Bulletin

Hebrews 11 says faith matters because you have to believe God exists in the first place to react to Him at all. Otherwise He matters to you as much an any other made up character like the cartoon dog Scooby Doo. You don’t need to worry about running into him or take him into account - he’s not real.

This week we begin a four-week series on the life of Abraham. He is held up in the book of Hebrews as the example par excellence of faith - believing God exists and letting that reality shape our lives. We are going to look at how Abraham’s faith affected his life and how that can challenge us to live lives of faith too - to let God be the cornerstone we build on rather than the stumbling block we trip over as we go our own way.  Be even more importantly we want to discover what this weird little biography of old father Abraham tells us about the God he believed in.

This Sabbath during church we will explore the idea of a God who often has inverted values and ideals from us humans. What does a backwards God have for us to build on in faith as we follow Abraham’s example to believe God and then follow where He leads us. We can’t wait to worship and learn together so please join us this weekend at Carmichael - we’re excited to see you.
