From time to time I have to stop and evaluate my own motives for doing what I do...believing what I believe...and preaching what I preach. It's called honest reflection. Sometimes it is uplifting and sometimes it is more painful. When I first became a Seventh-day Adventist I was determined to be obedient to every point of doctrine as well as tradition. Gradually, through the years, I have transitioned more to a surrender of myself as an unworthy child, but a child of God none the less. That change in thinking has resulted in an "obedience" that is quite different from what I began with. I want to embrace the Sabbath. I want to feel the warmth of His embrace. I want to come with an attitude of worship more than with an attitude of obedience. Obedience may not lead to worship, but worship will always lead to obedience.
